How can you fix bad soil? “Organic matter is our number one. That’s what we say all the time, whether it’s composted leaves, grass clippings, anything like that to get into that soil,” Jervis said.

TULSA, Okla — When two relatives were diagnosed with cancer, Carla Grogg became inspired to research organic gardening. She and her husband, Kelly, began growing their own vegetables, then began finding ways to share that passion for organic, chemical-free gardening with others.
As the former owners of Grogg’s Green Barn, the Groggs used to import organic soil from states such as Oregon and California. They soon found, though, that each state has unique growing conditions.
